The Department of Mathematics and Science Education was established by the decision of the Council of Higher Education dated 15.06.2016. It aims to train teachers who are equipped with the field, pedagogy, general culture and teaching technology knowledge required for teaching mathematics and science; who have internalized Atatürk's principles and reforms; who have developed their self-expression, discussion and questioning skills; who have acquired the qualifications to continue their professional development throughout their lives by following national and international developments in their field; and who have high professional motivation and self-confidence. The Department includes the Department of Mathematics Education and the Department of Science Education. Seven academicians work in the Department of Mathematics Education and nine academicians work in the Department of Science Education.

Students are accepted to the Primary School Mathematics Teaching Undergraduate Program and the Science Teaching Undergraduate Program within the departments. In addition, students are accepted to the Primary School Mathematics Teaching Master's Program and Science Teaching Master's Program in the relevant departments in accordance with the determined academic criteria and quotas (for detailed information, Institute of Educational Sciences https://ebe.ogu.edu.tr).
